How the two approaches differ

Classical DOE software wants the whole plan before you start. You choose a design, run every experiment in it, and analyze the results at the end. That is fine when you already know which design fits your problem. When you do not, you often find out after you have spent 30 runs on the wrong one.

Alfraido runs the other way around. You enter results as they come in and it tells you what to run next. It learns from what you already know and points you toward the formulation you are looking for, one experiment at a time. You spend fewer runs and you get an answer sooner.

The parts of classical software that slow people down

Two things get in the way more than the statistics themselves.

The first is setup. A lot of this software installs on a single machine, needs a license per seat, and keeps your data in project files on someone's desktop. When that person is out, the project sits still. Sharing work means emailing files back and forth.

The second is the language. The menus are full of terms like aliasing, resolution, and blocking. A chemist who wants to know how much superplasticizer it takes to reach 25 MPa at a lower cost first has to learn a second field to get there. The tool assumes you already think like a statistician.
